PERFORMER

Connection:  it’s why I perform.

To feel my audience breathing with me and buoying me up.  To hear their laughter and tears.

To savor the gift afterwards of listeners sharing that my story entertained them, or maybe even made a difference in their life.

I’m proud to have won two StorySLAMs with The Moth, but I’m equally proud to have told in dozens of tiny cafes and noisy bars across Chicago (plus a cozy bakery in Singapore and an elegant hotel in Switzerland.) My first story ever was on stage at Second City:  a tale about a tower in India filled with terrifying (possibly rabid) wild monkeys . . .

Other on-stage joys for me have been performing, “Fierce,” the solo show I wrote about
re-finding my creative voice – and “growing up” with my mother over many decades.

And improv:  “Yes, And” riffing with scene partners is heaven for me. Too.  Much.  Fun.
